SummaryCoordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other members of the interdisciplinary team to achieve optimal clinical and resource outcomes.
Job Duties
- Administers medications and immunizations and performs treatments to patients according to established policies and standards.
- Receives, interprets, and clarifies physician orders accurately; consults appropriate resources to clarify unfamiliar or questionable orders. Reads back verbal orders.
- Documents all patient-related information including health history, weights, medications, and vital signs accurately in the EMR.
- Identifies problems that require immediate intervention, initiates appropriate action, and records observations accurately and concisely in the medical record.
- Coordinates/prioritizes complex patient assignment.
- Develops and implements an individualized teaching plan that includes the patient/family as evidenced by documentation on the medical record.
- Maintains the standards of nursing care the policies and procedures of the hospital and Nursing Department.
Minimum Qualifications- Associate’s Degree Nursing
- 2 years Acute care setting.
- Basic computer skills and data entry.
- OCN - Oncology Certified Nurse ONCC - State of Pennsylvania within 3 Years
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
- RN - Licensed Registered Nurse_PA - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree Nursing
- Epic EMR.
Physical DemandsLift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
