- Limb Preservation Program
If you have a condition that has led to the threat of losing a limb, the Limb Preservation Program at Lehigh Valley Heart and Vascular Institute is here to help. The only program of its kind in the region, it streamlines access to a team of specialists who quickly triage and treat limb-threatening conditions.
A first-in-the-region approach to saving limbs
As diabetes and peripheral artery disease (PAD) become more common, so too does the risk for limb loss. That’s why we created the region’s only formal Limb Preservation Program, bringing together experts across multiple specialties to provide fast, comprehensive limb-saving treatment.
Led by vascular surgeons Marissa Famularo, DO, and Mazen Roshdy, MD, our program is designed to ensure rapid evaluation and early intervention through evidence-based care. Our expert clinicians provide care at multiple locations, bringing this important care close to home.
We care for people at risk for, or already experiencing, limb-threatening conditions, including:
- Diabetic foot ulcers
- Critical limb ischemia
- Chronic nonhealing wounds
- PAD
- Infected or gangrenous tissue
Collaborative, multidisciplinary care
Our program unites experts across:
- Cardiology and interventional cardiology
- Endocrinology
- Infectious diseases
- Interventional radiology
- Physical medicine and rehabilitation
- Plastic and reconstructive surgery
- Podiatry
- Vascular surgery
- Wound care
Together, we develop individualized treatment plans that may include advanced revascularization techniques, infection control, metabolic optimization and wound management, all designed to save limbs and improve quality of life.
