It’s time to celebrate Women’s History Month, and this year’s national theme is “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating and Inspiring Generations.” This observance resonates deeply with LVHN’s journey to empower women through education, leadership opportunities and community engagement.

A legacy of female leaders

Founded by women, LVHN’s legacy is built upon the dedication and expertise of women who have shaped our health network. Today, women comprise more than 80% of our workforce, and their contributions are integral to our commitment to delivering exceptional health care.

Empowering through education and mentorship

It’s important to foster an environment where women can thrive professionally and personally. Our Women in Leadership and Learning (WILL) program exemplifies this commitment by offering mentoring, networking and educational opportunities. Launched in 2022, WILL supports hundreds of colleagues in navigating diverse roles and building relationships within the health network.

Additionally, LVHN provides individualized academic career consulting, defined career paths and educational support, including tuition reimbursement. These resources empower colleagues to pursue further education and professional development, ensuring they have the tools to succeed and inspire future generations.

Recognizing and celebrating achievements

LVHN’s dedication to elevating women extends beyond our health network. LVHN is a proud two-time recipient of the Lehigh Valley Business Empowering Women Award, recognizing our tangible efforts in supporting and advocating for women in central and eastern Pennsylvania. This honor reflects our ongoing commitment to creating an equitable workplace and community.

We also celebrate the accomplishments of our colleagues who have been honored with the prestigious Women of Influence Award from Lehigh Valley Business. These exceptional leaders exemplify excellence, integrity and a commitment to mentoring the next generation.

Women who lead at LVHN

Our commitment to fostering women’s leadership is exemplified by the remarkable women who guide our organization. Women at LVHN hold vital leadership roles across numerous disciplines, demonstrating the organization’s deep commitment to empowering women and fostering their professional growth. In fact, approximately 1,000 women hold leadership positions at LVHN. From nursing administration to hospital operations and medical staff to philanthropy, female leaders at LVHN shape the future of patient care, community engagement, strategic development and nearly every other aspect of the work we do. Leaders advocate for exceptional women’s health services and work to expand accessible, patient-centered care. They strengthen connections between LVHN’s mission and the community, ensuring sustainability and growth. Women also lead in administrative teams such as legal affairs, human resources, and marketing and public affairs, mentoring the next generation and driving innovation. Their influence extends beyond their roles, fostering an inclusive and dynamic workplace. By championing women in leadership, LVHN cultivates an environment where expertise, dedication and vision thrive, benefiting our colleagues and the broader community.

Investing in our community

LVHN’s commitment to women’s empowerment extends into the community. We are long-standing premier sponsors of the Lehigh Valley Women’s Summit, one of the region’s largest gatherings of female leaders and influencers. Our support for the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania’s annual Lehigh Valley Take the Lead event further underscores our dedication to fostering positive role models and creating opportunities for young women.

Moving forward together

As we honor Women’s History Month, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing women’s education, leadership and mentorship. By moving forward together, we continue to build a health network and community where women are empowered to lead, inspire and create lasting change for generations to come.
