Helping Moms Prioritize Their Health With On-Site Childcare Service

The Women’s Health Center at Tower Place is home to LVHN Kids Club, on-site childcare services offered to patients during their visit

As a woman, taking care of yourself and your health can easily get deprioritized – and we get why. You’re busy. You’re working. You’re putting your family and life’s to-dos first. However, at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), part of Jefferson Health, we are determined to change this mindset. By removing barriers to accessible care, we are making it easier for women to move taking care of themselves back to the top of their to-do lists. The Women’s Health Center at Tower Place is just one of the ways LVHN is doing this.

“Whether you’re at your quick checkup or a longer consultation, our team of trained and compassionate early childhood professionals will provide a safe and engaging environment that supports children’s social, emotional and cognitive development.” - Asma Rahman, Manager, LVHN Kids Club

A first of its kind in the region, the Women’s Health Center provides dedicated, comprehensive care just for women – which includes breast health services (including a high-risk breast clinic), cardiovascular care, esthetics, female pelvic medicine, women’s rehabilitation services, obstetrics and gynecology, midwifery services and maternal fetal medicine – in a space thoughtfully designed for women with amenities like a café, a lactation room and, most notably, on-site child care for patients while they are receiving care at the facility.

“Taking your child to appointments isn’t always ideal. That’s why we are proud to offer LVHN Kids Club, on-site childcare services designed to give parents peace of mind while getting the care they need,” says Asma Rahman, Manager, LVHN Kids Club.

For some women, lack of childcare is a major factor in why they delay or neglect getting the care they need. For those moms, having on-site childcare services during their appointment is a game-changer.

“Whether you’re at your quick checkup or a longer consultation, our team of trained and compassionate early childhood professionals will provide a safe and engaging environment that supports children’s social, emotional and cognitive development,” Rahman says.

Early childhood education professionals following the childcare industry’s best practices provide individualized age-appropriate activities in a clean, secure and nurturing setting to ensure each child feels safe, supported and engaged.

LVHN Kids Club is open to children from 4 weeks to 12 years old, with all the amenities they may need to keep them comfortable and happy while their mom is receiving the care she needs. This includes furniture for lounging and independent play; a device charging station for the older kids; engaging toys, games and craft supplies for preschool age children; and a well-equipped library for all ages. The Kids Club space also includes a safe area for non-mobile children to nap and play, bottle warmers, a changing station and a specially designed private bathroom for children’s use.

Childcare services are available free of charge to Women's Health Center patients during regular appointment hours. Patients must remain on premises while children are in the Kids Club.

Kids Club reservations are required and can be made by a patient service representative in any of the practices located in the Women’s Health Center. Appointment confirmations will also include a link to self-schedule a spot at Kids Club. The space is designed to accommodate up to 10 children (with a maximum of four infants) so be sure to reserve your child’s spot ahead of time.
