Raise awareness about women and cardiovascular disease

Raise awareness about women and cardiovascular disease

Red is one of the three primary colors and has great significance among world cultures: love, wealth, caution and more.

It’s also the color to wear Friday, Feb. 3, on Go Red for Women Day, to let people know you want them to know more about women and heart disease. Guys, this is for you, too, so search the closets.

The American Heart Association says cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women, accounting for one in three deaths each year. Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) has been leading the charge for women’s heart health for years and the Women’s Heart Program at Lehigh Valley Heart and Vascular Institute is home to the largest group of female cardiologists in the region.

Check out our virtual heart health programs

In addition to wearing red, you’re invited to being an even bigger heart health ambassador by telling friends and family about LVHN’s slate of free virtual programs during February, running 6-7 p.m. on the following evenings:

Feb. 8

Living with Heart Failure, presented by Sima Hodavance, MD, and Alma Ohl, CRNP. Get an overview of this common heart condition and how to best manage its symptoms.

Feb. 15

Heart and Diabetes, presented by Paul Hermany, MD. Learn about how diabetes can affect your heart and how you can manage diabetes and cardiovascular disease risk.

Feb. 22

Valvular Heart Disease & Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), presented by Ahmed Nassar, MD. Learn about aortic stenosis and get information about a minimally invasive treatment option: transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
