LVHN and Talitha Diggs Host Speed and Agility Clinic for Young Athletes

The world champion and University of Florida track star is an LVHN Impact Athlete

Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute’s sports medicine team hosted a speed and agility clinic with its Impact Athlete, University of Florida and world champion track star Talitha Diggs. The camp, held at Muhlenberg College, was free of charge and open to young athletes ages 8-18.

During the three-hour event, Diggs, a graduate of Saucon Valley High School, led the group in a variety of drills designed to help young athletes increase their speed and endurance. Diggs also spoke about the importance of perseverance when it comes to succeeding in athletics at any level.

"Growing up there were so many different people that I looked up to, I want to be that role model that other kids in this area can look up to and strive to do great things as well." - Talitha Diggs

Diggs is one of five Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) Impact Athletes. Steve Hultgren, Director, Sports Performance Initiatives, Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute, says LVHN Impact Athletes are regional athletes who were molded by their community to become successful collegiate athletes. Hultgren says the goal of the Impact Athlete program is to provide regional youth athletes with strong inspirational role models who encourage them to pursue their goals.

Other LVHN Impact Athletes include NFL draft pick for the Washington Commanders, Jahan Dotson, and NBA draft pick for the Atlanta Hawks, Tyrese Martin. Hultgren says that LVHN will host several camps for youth athletes throughout the year with other Impact Athletes.

Hultgren says Diggs is a great role model, which made her a natural pick for LVHN Impact Athlete. “Talitha is well known in our community. She has really excelled and made a name for herself in the track-and-field world through hard work and perseverance. She is a great role model for young athletes,” Hultgren says.

Diggs was equally excited to have been chosen as an Impact Athlete. "Growing up there were so many different people that I looked up to," Diggs said. "I want to be that role model that other kids in this area can look up to and strive to do great things as well."
