Mammogram and Go!

It’s hard to argue with the successful impact made by screening mammograms. A recent study looked at breast cancer deaths over a long period of time (1969 to 2015). What it found was encouraging: Since 1990, fewer women die each year from breast cancer. The study estimates that up to 600,000+ breast cancer deaths were prevented (and continue to be prevented) thanks to screening mammograms and advances in breast cancer treatment.

So what does this study mean to you, a busy woman with demands at home, work and community? “It confirms that screening mammograms help find breast cancer at an early stage, when it is more easily treated and defeated,” says breast surgeon Lori Alfonse, DO, medical director of Breast Health Services at Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute. “This study also strengthens my invitation to every woman who expertly schedules everyone else’s priorities to make time for their own health and schedule a yearly mammogram.”

Quick and easy ways to schedule your mammogram

It’s true – you can schedule a mammogram in just a few minutes. Here are three easy ways you can schedule your screening mammogram right now:

2. Schedule your mammogram on MyLVHN – If you are age 40 or older, you can schedule your screening mammogram right on MyLVHN, our patient portal (or use the MyLVHN app on your mobile device). From the appointment scheduling button, select a convenient LVHN Breast Health Services location and date (at least 365 days since your last mammogram) that fits your schedule best.

Save the date for your mammogram

Once you have your appointment scheduled, add it to your phone calendar or the calendar on your fridge. You won’t need a lot of time for the appointment. Once you check-in, your mammogram will take just a few minutes and you will be on your way.
