Pocono Golf Classic Raises More than $70K for Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center, Part of Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute

More than 70 golfers took to the greens to support comprehensive cancer care at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono

On Monday, Sept. 29, at Great Bear Golf Club, 72 golfers, along with 11 sponsors including Crothall Healthcare Environmental Services and Sodexo Health & Care, raised more than $70,000 during the second annual Pocono Golf Classic.

Joe Pinto, Chief Operating Officer, Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Pocono, LVH–Dickson City and LVH–Hecktown Oaks, Jefferson Health, spoke during the evening reception. “We couldn’t have hoped for a more enthusiastic response to our second golf classic,” he said. He also shared his gratitude for the tournament’s Title Sponsors, Joe and Maureen Topper, as well as all participants and golfers, for their support of comprehensive cancer care in the Pocono region.

Additionally, Jacqueline Oxenberg, DO, surgical oncologist at LVH–Pocono, spoke on the exciting expansion currently underway at Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center. “[The expansion] will improve the patient experience, better support our staff and provide more patients with the latest cancer treatments right here in Pocono,” Dr. Oxenberg said.

Funds from the event will benefit Dale and Frances Hughes Cancer Center, part of Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute, through comprehensive cancer care, groundbreaking clinical trials and continued patient assistance.
