Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute recently welcomed two Fellowship-trained cancer surgeons: Luke Rodriguez, MD, and Jacqueline Oxenberg, DO. Both surgeons treat people with a wide range of cancer types.

Luke Rodriguez, MD

Dr. Rodriguez, who specializes in breast cancer surgery and benign breast conditions, provides care at LVPG Surgical Oncology–Schuylkill, 171 Red Horse Road in Pottsville, and LVPG Surgical Oncology–1240 Cedar Crest.

“I believe in treating the person, not just their condition,” Dr. Rodriguez says. “We all face daily stressors, but receiving a life-changing diagnosis on top of our already busy lives is very difficult. Getting to extend a helping hand to support and guide my patients is what makes this specialty truly rewarding.”

A graduate of Universidad Central Del Caribe School of Medicine, Dr. Rodriguez completed his residency at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest under the guidance of Lori Alfonse, DO. He also completed a fellowship in breast surgery oncology at New York’s University of Buffalo Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

“I make sure I support each of my patients to the fullest, taking time to talk through their entire treatment process. I also take the time to listen to their concerns,” he says. “I believe healing begins from within.”

Jacqueline Oxenberg, DO

Dr. Oxenberg, who treats patients at LVPG Surgical Oncology–Pocono in East Stroudsburg, specializes in breast cancer and thyroid/ endocrine surgery as well as benign breast conditions, melanoma, gastrointestinal cancer, sarcoma and peritoneal malignancies.

She graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she also did her residency. Dr. Oxenberg completed a fellowship in surgical oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

“Facing a cancer diagnosis is extremely tough for patients and their families,” Dr. Oxenberg says. “I am dedicated to supporting my patients throughout their care journeys by offering high-quality care close to their homes.”

According to Dr. Oxenberg, the best part of her job is working with a multidisciplinary team of specialists that is focused on taking care of people with cancer and helping them feel better.

“I want my patients to know that I am not just their surgeon – I’m also their ally,” she says. “I’m dedicated to providing them with the best care, and I am always going to be part of their team, fighting alongside them.”
