Pregnancy changes your body in ways you expect and in ways you don’t. Back pain might not surprise you. Bladder leaks, pelvic pressure or lingering core weakness often do.
Too often, those who are pregnant are told these changes are just part of the experience. Karen Snowden, a pelvic health physical therapist at Lehigh Valley Health Network, part of Jefferson Health, says they do not have to be. “With the right support, many of these symptoms can be managed or even prevented. And that support can start earlier than most people realize, even before pregnancy begins,” she says.
