Friends of Nursing

Friends of Nursing is a philanthropic foundation established to recognize and promote excellence in nursing practice, nursing education and nursing research. Activities include distribution of awards for outstanding practice, sponsorship of seminars and educational programs, creation of scholarship funds to support education programs, establishment of fellowships for research, funding for special projects and implementation of specific retention and recruitment efforts. Gifts to Friends of Nursing have come from patients and families, community members, nurses, physicians and other health care professionals.

At LVHN, Friends of Nursing is operationalized through the Professional Excellence Council. Representing a variety of nursing personnel, as well as members of other hospital departments and the community, the Professional Excellence Council develops and implements the Friends of Nursing recognition program as well as other activities to promote and advocate for the nursing profession.
