Prostate Cancer

If you have prostate cancer, you want the best chance for recovery. But at the same time, you’re very worried about possible serious side effects like impotence and incontinence.  
The urologic surgeon, radiation oncologist and nurse navigator who work together on a multidisciplinary consultation team explain what to expect when you receive care for prostate cancer at Lehigh Valley Health Network.

You can find experienced doctors – including a fellowship-trained urologic oncologist – who share your concerns right here in the Lehigh Valley. You will meet with our Prostate Cancer Multidisciplinary Consultation Program (Prostate MDC) team. The Prostate MDC provides in one visit access to your treatment specialists in urologic surgery, radiation oncology and medical oncology. They will listen to your concerns and explain the pros and cons of all your treatment options. The doctors will make sure you have enough information to make the decision that’s best for you.

According to American Cancer Society statistics, one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime. Almost 30,000 men are expected to die from prostate cancer in 2013.
