About

Philosophy of care

I care for every child as I would for a member of my own family. Being a parent has given me a personal understanding of the questions and concerns that come with making decisions about your child’s health, and I try to bring that perspective to every visit. That means listening to family concerns, understanding what matters most to them, and making sure they feel comfortable with the plan. Seeing a pediatric urologist can be stressful for both children and parents, so I explain things in a way that is clear and approachable. Whether a child needs reassurance, ongoing care, or surgery, my goal is to work with families to find the treatment that makes the most sense for their child.

Why I entered medicine

I wasn’t drawn to medicine because of a singular passion for science; what really attracted me was its human element and the relationships that come with being a physician. I’ve always enjoyed working through challenging problems, but I also genuinely enjoy getting to know people and working together toward a common goal. Pediatric urology has given me the chance to do all of those things in a way I find especially rewarding. I enjoy working with children and getting to know their families, whether I’m helping with a common childhood concern or guiding them through a more complex condition or surgery. Being able to put a family at ease, helping them understand what is happening, and working together on a plan for their child is what makes this field so meaningful.

Community involvement

I have volunteered at community health clinics, mentored students interested in science and medicine, and participated in surgical mission trips providing care to underserved communities. I also enjoy teaching and finding opportunities to make a positive impact apart from my day-to-day clinical practice.

Personal interests

As a former collegiate track and field and cross-country athlete, staying active has always been an important part of my life. I still enjoy running, along with basketball, golf, and skiing.
