About

Philosophy of care

It is important to listen to patients and their families while assisting in setting goals and addressing symptoms. It is also important to address the cause of symptoms, whether from medications, treatments or a disease. I address the symptoms that bother you as we work with the primary care team and specialists to keep you out of the hospital.

Why I entered medicine

After entering nursing to help people, I stumbled into oncology while seeking a better work/life balance, and was sold. With that background, I focus on alleviating symptoms.

Community involvement

I chair a committee in New Jersey for addressing the needs of small churches. I also have been active professionally in the Oncology Nursing Society and with the Hospice and Palliative Care Nurses Association. Previously I chaired the education committee of the Boston chapter of American Cancer Society.

Personal interests

I enjoy watching football and many other sports. My dad was a friend of Steve and Ed Sabol, who started NFL Films. It was not unusual to have Chuck Bednarik or Abisha "Bosh" Pritchard in our house visiting. I have enjoyed needlepoint, counted cross stitch and knitting in the past and hope to resume doing it. I also enjoy classical music and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
