About

Philosophy of care

As an athlete growing up, teamwork has always been a huge facet of my life. This is no different in medicine, not just with staff but also with each and every patient. My philosophy has always been to work alongside you to help you with any illness or injury. I have also learned that it is extremely important to truly allow time for listening, as doing just this will solve many diagnoses. By working together, it is fascinating how much progress we can make.

Why I entered medicine

My dream ever since I was a little girl was to become a physician. I have always been very service-oriented, and being able to help others in need really allows me to find my purpose. I also consider myself a lifelong learner, and in the field of medicine, it is a necessity to be able to keep up-to-date with all of the fast-paced changes that constantly occur.

Community involvement

I have been very active in the community serving both at the local fire company and ambulance station. I have been an active member at South Cass Citizens’ Fire Company (Primrose) and Minersville EMS for the past 15 years. Fire and EMS calls provide a much different environment compared to a controlled office or hospital setting, and they allow me to be involved in the initial stabilization and treatment of patients on some of their worst days with the hope of making things better. I am also a lector at Saint Michael the Archangel Parish in Minersville.

Personal interests

I have what I consider to be a second career as a soldier in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. I am currently a Captain in the Medical Detachment at Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville, Pa. My dream growing up has always been to serve both my country and community, and this opportunity allows me to do just that.

My family is certainly the most important part of my life. They have been by my side through all of the ups and downs, always there to encourage me when I had doubt. Without them, I would not be where I am today, and for them, I am and will always be truly thankful.

In my spare time, I enjoy exercising often (I use this as my stress reliever), and of course making up for lost calories by eating ice cream!
