With a state-of-the art ER, full hospital and access to needed specialists, your emergency care is close to home.
Your experience at LVH–Hazleton is an important component of your care. You can rest assured that the LVH–Hazleton ER provides privacy and comfort during your most vulnerable moments.
The physicians at LVH–Hazleton ER are board certified in emergency medicine. That means you’ll be treated by experts when you need it most.
We have the latest technology to ensure the highest level of care, including a state-of-the-art 128-slice computed tomography (CT) scanner located in emergency room for highly accurate diagnoses.
The updated facility is nearly double the size and features a quicker, easier check-in process. To decrease wait times, a nurse will see you, take vital signs, and determine next steps in care. Patients who are experiencing life-threatening conditions are always given priority, and now people with minor injuries and illnesses can be super-tracked and rapidly triaged.
People with minor illnesses or injuries can be “super-tracked” to receive care quickly. Four super-track beds are available to treat people with non-emergency conditions.
We now have a dedicated trauma room in our Level IV trauma center. It’s the only Level IV trauma center in lower Luzerne County and is accredited by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation. We also work closely with the Level I trauma center at LVH–Cedar Crest through our telehealth program.
If you are experiencing heart attack symptoms, including chest pain, shortness of breath or pain in your arms, neck, jaw or back – call 911.
We partner with LVHN’s other hospital locations in the award-winning MI Alert Program. If you have a heart attack, this program enables us to quickly identify the condition and transfer you to a partner facility with the resources to provide the best in treatment in 90 minutes or less.
Every second counts when it comes to stroke. Fast, aggressive care minimizes brain damage by ensuring adequate blood flow to the brain. That’s why you should always remember BE FAST. This acronym will help you remember the signs of a stroke and that you should act quickly.
We are a Primary Stroke Center accredited by the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP). Our Stroke-Alert Program ensures that potential stroke patients are quickly assessed and undergo a CT scan in 20 minutes or less. Patients needing additional medical attention are transferred to a larger LVHN facility.
LVH–Hazleton earned an “A” Hospital Safety Score from The Leapfrog Group. Leapfrog helps you make an informed decision about where to receive care. They collect information from hospitals across the United States to find the ones that are taking "big leaps" in health care quality, safety and customer value.
Most people who visit our ER do not need to be transported by helicopter. But for those who do, LVHN-Medevac is always close by, with a specially educated crew available 24/7 to continue medical care during transport.
