On Monday, Aug. 23, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted full approval to the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for people age 16 and older. This means the FDA has completed an extremely rigorous review of data that confirms the vaccine meets the high standards for safety, effectiveness and manufacturing quality.

“Millions of people across the U.S. have already received COVID-19 vaccines safely,” says Alex Benjamin, MD, Chief Infection Control and Prevention Officer, LVHN. “We hope FDA approval will give people more confidence to get vaccinated. Vaccines save lives, and every dose that is administered moves us one step closer to ending the pandemic.”

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is providing the FDA-approved Pfizer vaccine at all of its vaccination clinics. There are four easy ways to get vaccinated:

The Pfizer vaccines also is available to children 12-15 years of age under emergency use authorization (EUA) and for those who are immunocompromised and need a third shot.
