Fourth Annual Run 4 Pies Benefits Community Health and Wellness at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Hecktown Oaks

The annual 4-mile race and 1.3-mile fun run gathered 200 participants ready to kick off the holiday season.

The holidays are all about traditions, many made even sweeter when there’s a perfect pumpkin pie to share! Luckily for the participants of Lehigh Valley Health Network’s annual Run 4 Pies, everyone receives their own personal pie. On Sunday, Nov. 16, runners, walkers and families came prepared to brave the wind on the 4-mile and 1.3-mile courses around Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Hecktown Oaks campus for a homemade pie at the finish line thanks to ShopRite.

“We are so grateful to have a wonderful community to care for and for a community who gives back.” - Lisa Liddington

Before the race began, Lisa Liddington, Chief Operating Officer, LVH–Hecktown Oaks, recognized ShopRite and other lead sponsors Adams Outdoor, PenTeleData, Service Electric, AllerVie Health, Aramark, J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, Cetronia Ambulance Corps, Cumulus Media and PATHS. Thanking all participants, Liddington said, “This event has more than doubled in size since its inaugural year. We are so grateful to have a wonderful community to care for and for a community who gives back.”

Karen Andrews, 39, was the top overall female finisher with a time of 27 minutes, 54 seconds, while Anthony Calantoni, 29, claimed his second straight title as top male finisher with a time of 22 minutes and 17 seconds. Andrews and Calantoni, as well as the top age-group finishers, received prizes courtesy of Keystone Running Store, Aardvark Sports Shop and Marblehead Chowder House.

Thank you to everyone who supported community health and wellness initiatives at LVH–Hecktown Oaks and added a slice of fun to their holiday traditions!
