Finding a rainbow after the storm
When Weiant felt physically, emotionally and mentally ready to try for another child, she turned to Dr. Rochon for guidance.
“After Maddie’s first pregnancy, she was unsure she would be able to have a successful pregnancy in the future. Fortunately, at LVHN we have the expertise and specialty programs to provide her with the care and guidance she needed to become a mother,” Dr. Rochon says. “She came to see me preconceptionally, and together we mapped out a multifaceted plan to include preconception optimization of her chronic medical conditions and a pregnancy management strategy to minimize her risk for experiencing fetal morbidity again.”
After meeting her preconception goals, Weiant was given the green light by Dr. Rochon and her team to try again. Shortly after, it happened – Weiant and her husband were left overjoyed at the sight of two pink lines, and they began the pregnancy journey again. This time with their son Weston watching over them from above, and the Maternal Fetal Medicine team at LVHN – as well as LVHN’s Cardio-Obstetrics team and Diabetes in Pregnancy program – keeping a close watch, earthside.
While not every pregnancy ends in a happy ending, the Weiants are grateful that this one did. On June 5, 2024, Weiant gave birth to a perfectly healthy baby boy, Theodore (Teddy) Weiant.
While it took weathering the darkest storm to make it to where they are today, the Weiants couldn’t be more in love with their rainbow baby, Teddy, and his big brother, Weston, who they know is watching all three of them from above.
