Lehigh Valley Hospital–Dickson City, now a year old, has added an intensive care unit (ICU) and medical-surgical beds to its previously unfinished fourth floor to provide even more critical care capability for the community.

“We’re proud to be able to offer these additional services for those in Lackawanna County and beyond,” says Kim Jordan, DNP, president, LVH–Dickson City. “We’re neighbors helping neighbors. Residents of the entire region have embraced this hospital from day one. These additions, including the ICU, mean more people will be able to receive critical care closer to home.”

The new medical surgical unit will begin accepting patients on Monday, June 26.

“The past year has been extremely rewarding. These upgrades mean an even brighter future for health care here.” Kim Jordan, president, LVH–Dickson City.

Nine new medical-surgical beds are now open on the newly renovated floor, with the seven ICU beds predicted to be in use around mid-June. Three of the ICU beds are intermediate beds, meaning they are for patients who still need constant monitoring, but are not the most critical cases.

Certain existing diagnostic services, such as inpatient cardiac diagnostics, are moving to the fourth floor.

“The past year has been extremely rewarding,” Jordan says. “These upgrades mean an even brighter future for health care here.”

LVH–Dickson City, a 100,000-square-foot state-of-the-art hospital, opened May 19, 2022. The hospital has a surgical specialty focus with seven operating rooms and two procedure rooms, as well as a 19-bay emergency room.
