Newsweek Ranks Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest Among Pennsylvania’s Best Hospitals

Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Cedar Crest provides high-quality, compassionate care, and that level of care is being recognized among Pennsylvania’s best.

LVH–Cedar Crest is one of Newsweek’s and Statista’s Best In-State Hospitals for 2024, a designation that identifies the top hospitals at the state level. This is the first year this recognition is being awarded.

“The health and well-being of our community is the driving force behind everything we do at LVH–Cedar Crest,” says Bob Begliomini, PharmD, Senior Vice President, LVHN; President, LVH–Cedar Crest; President, Lehigh Region. “Being recognized by Newsweek as one of the best hospitals in Pennsylvania is a huge honor because it reflects the positive differences we’re making in our community and beyond.”

The Newsweek/Statista ranking of best in-state hospitals is based on several factors:

  • Nationwide Online Survey: More than 10,000 medical professionals, including doctors and hospital managers, were asked to recommend the best hospitals in and out of state, based on their expertise.
  • Quality Metrics Data: Data from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for mortality, safety, readmission, experience, and timely and effective care were considered.
  • Patient Experience: Cleanliness, quietness, communication and responsiveness, care transition and discharge information were considered.
  • Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) Implementation Survey: To account for the increasing importance of PROMs, hospitals that participated in the voluntary PROMs Implementation survey received a PROMs implementation score.

The 25 states with the most hospitals according to CMS were surveyed individually. The remaining states were grouped into four regions: Northeast, Midwest, West and South. Leading hospitals from these states were considered accordingly.
