Families in the Stroudsburg Area School District kicked off the holiday season with an important stop by Lehigh Valley Health Network’s (LVHN) Mobile Vaccine Clinic at Stroudsburg High School on Dec. 1. The mobile vaccine unit provided the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 5-11, as well as kids 12-17.

12-year-old Aliyah Claire was surprised how easy getting the shot was. “It was a small pinch, and that’s it!”

Excitement and relief filled the school gymnasium as parents watched their children move one step closer to being protected from COVID-19. “I’m so excited for my daughter to be here and to have her get vaccinated. I signed up as soon as I found out LVHN would be offering the vaccine here,” Rebecca Childs says. Her 12-year-old daughter, Aliyah Claire, was surprised how easy getting the shot was. “It wasn’t a bad experience at all. I didn’t even know she did it. It was a small pinch, and that’s it!” she says.

Kris Salapek is a supporter of the vaccine and brought his 8-year-old son Bryce to get vaccinated. “I barely felt it, and now I feel more protected,” Bryce says.

Laura Indzonka brought three of her children to get vaccinated, and they were looking forward to it as much as she was. “It’s cool to not get COVID,” her son, Ben, says. Her daughter Linnea agreed. “I’m excited just to be able to brag to my classmates that I’m vaccinated,” Linnea says. Meanwhile, Indzonka’s other daughter, Larissa, just wants to get back to normal. “I can finally hang out with my friends!” she says.

To make the clinic more enjoyable for children, a special area was set up with crayons and coloring sheets and fun, kid-friendly giveaways.
