About

Philosophy of care

I treat each patient like I would want a member of my own family to be treated. I try to make people comfortable in the examination room, and answer questions thoroughly using terms a layperson can understand, which means not always speaking in medical language. If a patient needs further attention beyond the primary care setting, I’ll help them find an appropriate specialist.

Why I entered medicine

When I was 2, my dad suffered a massive heart attack in his 40s and almost passed away. He was life-flighted to a Philadelphia hospital from Wilkes-Barre, where I grew up. He coded, which means a lot of people thought he was not going to make it. The care team gave him the best care possible and he is still with us as we speak. As I got older, I heard more about what happened and learned about medicine. I remember accompanying him to his cardiology appointments around age 5 or 6. His having a good care team really affected me, and I decided I wanted to help other families one day.

Community involvement

I’m involved with health and fitness and am really passionate about doing online coaching part-time. I was overweight my entire life and lost 75 pounds. I was able to keep it off and saw how losing weight positively affected my life. Some people feel hopeless about their weight, but I’ve been there and I get it – so I’m able to tell my story online and show how it can be done. It’s almost as much a mental process as a physical one.

Personal interests

After moving here I bought a fixer-upper and have spent a lot of time and energy doing home renovations with my dad. We’ve replaced the roof and driveway, done full gut jobs in the baths, removed wood paneling and put up new drywall, cut down 100-foot pines, landscaped, installed new tile, carpet and flooring – everything. I’ve definitely enjoyed being able to see the before and after and how hard work has paid off.
