About

Philosophy of care

My goal is treating every patient the way I would want my own family treated – with compassion, respect and honest communication. Caring for my father during a serious illness gave me a firsthand understanding of the challenges patients and families face navigating today’s healthcare system, and it profoundly shaped my approach to medicine. I make it a priority to explain things in a way that makes sense and help alleviate the anxiety that often accompanies healthcare decisions.

Why I entered medicine

Growing up in a small town, I never imagined that entering medicine was a possibility. I always enjoyed science, but knew I wanted a career connecting with people. It wasn't until college that my world expanded. Having always been interested in teaching, I began working as a teaching assistant. I also volunteered at a local nursing home with hospice patients, visiting them weekly to keep them company. It was inspiring to hear their wisdom and humbling to be able to develop relationships with them and their families. I discovered that medicine allowed me to combine my love for science and teaching, and allowed me to empower women to take charge of their health. Once I started medical school, I was drawn to OB-GYN because it gave me the opportunity to build lifelong relationships with patients. It allows me to care for women through every stage of life – from adolescence and family planning to pregnancy, menopause and beyond.

Personal interests

I enjoy time with my family by staying active – through gardening, running, exploring new bicycle trails and traveling to unique places. I also have a creative side. I love trying new recipes, finding a new craft or starting a good home improvement project.
