Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN)’s Acute Care Physical Therapy Residency is a 12-month program that includes clinical and didactic education.

The mission of the LVHN Acute Care Physical Therapy Residency program is to develop acute care physical therapists who deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a dynamic hospital environment. Through rigorous clinical training, evidence-based education and interdisciplinary collaboration, we aim to foster adaptable clinicians committed to the safety, well-being and recovery of every patient.

This program offers residents the ability to:

  • Collaborate with a diverse team of experts in physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech-language pathology across various acute care specialties.
  • Partner with physicians representing multiple disciplines within the acute care setting.
  • Examine and treat patients with a wide range of acute medical and surgical conditions.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and support groups focused on acute care recovery.
  • Evaluate and manage a caseload dedicated to patients with complex and critical acute care needs.
  • Work in a hospital recognized for its excellence and accreditation in acute and critical care services.
