At Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute, our whole-person approach includes the comprehensive support you need throughout your care journey.
Cancer Counseling
You can talk with our counselors about whatever is bothering you, from anxiety to family relationships and decisions about your care. Our counseling services include one-on-one support from psychiatrists, professional counselors and social workers – caring professionals who understand what you are going through.
A psychiatrist (medical doctor) will help manage severe symptoms such as sleeping problems that make it difficult to go about your daily life. Social workers will spend time to get to know you so they can help determine what you need most. Our services are offered in English and Spanish.

Counseling options
- Individual counseling: You’ll speak one-to-one either virtually or in person with an understanding counselor and receive personalized recommendations.
- Group counseling: In a group setting, you’ll interact with others who may be facing similar needs and concerns, offering compassion and education.
- Cancer counseling and psychiatric support: You may benefit from taking medications, which only a psychiatrist can prescribe. You’ll receive the option that’s best for your needs.
Cancer Support Groups
Our cancer support groups offer a caring community where you can learn from, and interact with, others who are experiencing what you are. The groups are facilitated by licensed social workers. Connect with peers and cancer support staff to discuss a range of topics, including changing body image, stress management techniques and tips for recovering from and staying well during treatments.
Next scheduled meetings:
This group encourages current and former patients to have conversations about a range of topics, including sexual health and individual treatment experiences.
Providing a safe place to exchange support, this groups helps with information and guidance while discussing the unique challenges of living with a stage 4 cancer diagnosis.
In this group, with peers and support staff, you’ll discuss topics such as coping strategies, stress management and living with a chronic illness.
Additional support
Lymphedema Support Group
Some cancer treatments cause a buildup of fluid called lymph (lymphedema). This condition causes discomfort and can change your appearance. Our certified lymphedema therapists help you get relief. Learn more here.

Living with cancer can bring up feelings that are difficult to manage. We help you and your loved ones find ways to work through these feelings and make life transitions more peaceful. Read more about our grief support services.
Spiritual support
Our chaplains help you and your loved ones explore the many emotions you may be experiencing, including fear and hopelessness. We deliver compassionate services that help people of all faiths gain peace of mind.
