On May 11, nearly 90 golfers took to the greens at Valley Country Club in Sugarloaf. Supporters raised more than $70,000 to help advance clinical trials and research development in the Greater Hazleton Area for cancer treatment.
Guests were welcomed and thanked by Terry Purcell, Regional Chief Operating Officer, for their continued support of the Regional Cancer Center at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Hazleton, which is part of Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute. “Now in its fourth year, this tournament is doing more than raising funds for the Cancer Center and the people we serve. It is also growing awareness of this vital resource,” he said.
Robert Decker, MD, hematologist oncologist at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Hazleton, provided updates on the facility, which opened in 2023. “This state-of-the-art facility has made such a difference in the lives of patients and families,” he said. “Funds raised today also help expand access to lifesaving clinical trials through support of the clinical trial research team.”
