LVPG–Delta Medix, Together with LVH–Dickson City, Brings Comprehensive Care to Scranton Area

New hospital in Dickson City caters to every surgical need, including minimally invasive and robotic procedures

Delta Medix, the Premier Multispecialty practice in the Scranton area, recently joined forces with Lehigh Valley Physician Group (LVPG). Now known as LVPG–Delta Medix, the practice provides an unmatched range of exceptional health care services to northeast Pennsylvania.

“The acquisition of Delta Medix allows LVPG to expand into a very well-run and highly regarded multispecialty practice,” says Allen Boxbaum, Vice President, Operations, LVPG. “As part of Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), LVPG is able to provide additional services, specialists and ancillary resources.”

The opening of Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Dickson City this spring highlights the benefits of this union. The new, state-of-the-art facility offers a wide array of patient care and diagnostic testing services. The hospital has a particular focus on surgical care, with seven operating rooms, two procedure rooms and advanced robotic technology.

Wide-ranging surgical services

“There was already a large surgery component to the Delta Medix group,” says Michael Pasquale, MD, Chair, Surgery, LVHN, and Physician in Chief, Lehigh Valley Institute for Surgical Excellence. “Joining LVPG allows them to continue to provide outstanding surgical care, but now across a larger breadth of services with a deeper bench of providers.”

Procedures offered at LVH–Dickson City include:

  • Spinal surgery
  • Joint replacement
  • General orthopedic surgery
  • Hand surgery
  • Otolaryngologic surgery
  • Urologic surgery
  • Bariatric surgery
  • Gastrointestinal surgery
  • Hernia repair
  • General surgery

“The integration of Delta Medix into LVPG not only enables us to sustain and grow these services,” Pasquale says. “I believe that it will also help us recruit quality surgeons to the area and replenish the surgical workforce.”

Ready access to LVHN

For Delta Medix providers and patients, the move to LVPG facilitates access to:

  • Lehigh Valley Institute for Surgical Excellence, which focuses on innovative, minimally invasive procedures, including a robotic surgery program that has grown into one of the busiest in the nation
  • Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute, which offers top-of-the-line cancer care and clinical trials, enhanced by membership in the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Alliance
  • Lehigh Valley Heart and Vascular Institute, which boasts the region’s most experienced heart and vascular teams, as well as specialized programs in women’s heart health, sports cardiology and more

Tapping into these resources will only get easier with  time. “As we bring new technology into the LVPG–Delta Medix practice, online referrals for providers, online scheduling and our excellent MyLVHN patient portal Michael Pasquale, MD will be added,” Boxbaum says.
