About

Philosophy of care

I treat the opportunity to care for you as a privilege and do my best to provide a treatment plan based on open communication, scientific evidence and compassion. I believe that you deserve equal and unbiased access to quality health care, and I strive to provide excellent, patient-centric clinical care at all times.

Why I entered medicine

Personally, medicine has been less of a career and more of a calling for me. Growing up in Ethiopia, I harbored the desire to work within my community from a grassroots level. This drove me to pursue medicine, wherein my career would allow me to marry my interests in health care with my passion for community service.

Community involvement

Throughout my career, I have been actively engaged in community involvement and charity. As a medical student in Ethiopia, I served as a community health agent by providing education and training on preventive measures for communicable diseases within rural communities. During my time in Ethiopia, both as a general practitioner and an OB-GYN, I conducted community awareness and training programs on family planning, safe motherhood, reproductive health and vaccination programs. During my residency in Internal medicine and cardiology fellowship in the U.S., I have been involved in global outreach services in partnership with health care providers across various fields of medicine. These efforts provide me with the challenging yet satisfying opportunity to tangibly contribute towards the betterment of communities, while also advancing my knowledge and skill set with every person I meet.

Personal interests

In my spare time, I enjoy cooking traditional Ethiopian dishes, watching movies, reading books and enjoying the company of my husband and our two children.
