About
Philosophy of care
The best care happens when a patient feels genuinely heard, not just examined. I try to bring that into every appointment. I want to understand not just what is going on medically, but what it has been like for you to live with it, what has and hasn't worked, and what matters most to you as we figure out a path forward together.
Gastroenterology lets me care for patients across the full spectrum of their illness, from outpatient visits to complex hospitalizations, and I find real meaning in those longitudinal relationships that develop over time. When you come to me, I'm not just treating a condition, I'm treating a person.
Why I entered medicine
I have watched the people that I love navigate the healthcare system, and what struck me early on was how much the quality of that experience depended on the people providing the care. A good doctor could make something terrifying feel manageable. That stuck with me.
I wanted to be that person for someone else. Medicine felt like the right way to do it because it sits at the intersection of science and human connection in a way that nothing else really does. You get to solve problems, but the problems involve real people going through some of the hardest moments of their lives. That combination is what drew me in and what continues to drive me.
I was drawn to gastroenterology for a lot of reasons; the science, the procedural aspect, the diagnostic complexity. But what it comes down to is the patients and the relationships you build with them over time.
