About
Philosophy of care
I believe in high-quality health care for your orthopedic needs. I encourage you to communicate freely with me and will answer your questions and address your concerns in a timely manner. I will provide you with the information you need about your condition and have you help determine the best care plan for you.
Why I entered medicine
At a young age, I witnessed nurses when caring for an elderly family member with dementia. The patience and care they provided him and the rest of my family inspired me.
Community involvement
I support my community through volunteering and fundraising whenever possible. I have worked with Scranton’s youth shelter renovating a new place where homeless teens can rest, relax and receive meals and clothing. For the past two years I have organized the staff at Dickson City in donating over 20 Thanksgiving turkeys to local food banks.
Personal interests
Staying active is important to my physical and mental well-being. I enjoy skiing in the winter and hiking, riding and swimming in the summer. I also like reading. I have a passion for the arts and enjoy listening to classical, jazz as well as contemporary musicians. I occasionally dabble with my watercolor brushes – but not as often as I should!

Comments
"Susan Haikes is the best person I have seen in the healthcare industry in a long time. Very concerned about my well being and what was best for me. Explained everything to me in detail but simple enough for me to understand. If she was a primary care doctor, I would be switching to her today."
"Susan was very professional, competent & pleasant. She answered all my questions & explained very clearly everything about the procedure she was about to do, what I should feel and how long the synvisc might take to become effective. She scheduled a follow-up appt for 3 months to determine the efficacy of the injection and to determine if another injection is indicated. I felt very little discomfort and pressure when she did the injection of Synvisc. She does her job very well."
"She made sure everything was ready for my surgery..."
