About

Philosophy of care

I aspire to provide excellent surgical and clinical care, from evaluation and diagnosis through recovery. I make you feel heard, cared for and confident in receiving the best treatment available in sports medicine. I treat the whole patient, not just one injury or problem. For me that means thinking "outside the box" and integrating often intertwined things like metabolic bone health, endocrine/hormonal factors, nutritional factors and human/psychological/emotional factors. The beautiful thing about practicing orthopedic sports medicine is seeing patients get back to doing the things they love. I feel privileged to be the smallest part of that journey for so many people, and that privilege is a reward I don't think will ever get old.

Why I entered medicine

I chose a career in orthopedic surgery – and specifically sports medicine – because I enjoy caring for "the athlete" and am passionate about getting patients back to participating in the activities that bring them joy and meaning. My definition of athlete includes all ages and abilities, from the youth soccer player to the weekend warrior to the pickleball-playing retiree. I grew up playing multiple sports and remain active today. It is a great honor to help people return to their sports and activities. Also, I simply think the practice of sports medicine and sports medicine surgery is fun. I thoroughly enjoy the work, from the actual surgical procedures, to meeting and taking care of patients in the office, to sideline team coverage and taking care of athletes in the training room. I can't imagine doing anything else.

Community involvement

My wife Sarah and I are new to Pennsylvania after living in Texas, then New York City and then Los Angeles during my medical, orthopedic and sports medicine training. Sarah works as an actress in TV, film, commercial and voice-over roles and looks forward to engaging with the arts community in the Lehigh Valley and Poconos. I will serve as a team physician for East Stroudsburg University and the Delaware Valley School District. In time, we would love to become involved through other charitable avenues.

Personal interests

I have a great interest in sports as a fan and as a recreational athlete. I am an avid Baylor University sports fan (especially the football and men's & women's basketball programs). During my fellowship training I served as a team physician to the Los Angeles Rams, Dodgers, Angels, Ducks, Galaxy, Rugby FC Los Angeles, as well as to Pepperdine University, Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles minor league affiliates, and area high schools and junior colleges. I enjoyed these roles immensely. Personally, I love to run, hike, swim, mountain bike, fish, and play basketball, tennis and golf. I enjoy all things coffee, food and live music. My wife and I are looking forward to exploring Pennsylvania on foot – by road and by trail, to enjoying the live music and the arts, and to diving into the emerging food scene of the Poconos and the Lehigh Valley we've heard so much about. If you see me as a patient, feel free to share recommendations!
