Behavioral Health

Find a Psychiatry
& Mental Health Doctor

Your behavioral health is just as important to your overall well-being as your physical health. Mental conditions are real and can be life-threatening, but they're also common and very treatable. For more than 50 years, Lehigh Valley Health Network has been caring for people who need behavioral health treatment, whether it’s for counseling during a stressful time in your life or for a lifelong condition that requires medication, and anything in between.

We are dedicated to providing a safe and comfortable place where you or your loved one can overcome life’s challenges. All of our psychiatrists, psychologists, physician assistants, certified registered nurse practitioners, licensed clinical social workers, psychiatric nurses and occupational therapists received special education to know how to address and treat your individual needs, regardless of age. As a result, you can feel confident you or your loved one will receive the best possible care.

Some of the conditions we treat include:

This allows you to receive a seamless transition among different levels and types of behavioral health care.

Inpatient behavioral health

Located in the Behavioral Health Science Center at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, these programs provide short-term crisis stabilization for adults or adolescents (ages 12-18), until they can safely receive care in an outpatient setting.

Partial hospitalization programs

Partial hospitalization programs for adolescents (ages 12-18) and adults offer many of the same services provided by inpatient care, but do so in a schedule allowing a daily return home for people who can be cared for safely in an ambulatory setting. These programs are available at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg and Lehigh Valley Hospital-17th Street. Treatment is typically provided six hours per day, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday – Friday, as an alternative to 24-hour hospitalization that might disrupt home life and other support systems.
