About

Philosophy of care

I strive to provide you the most current evidence-based care, while adapting it to you and your family’s situations. I value getting to know and understand you in a way that helps us work together to optimize your health. Years of practice have taught me this relationship is the essential ingredient in successfully caring for patients.

Why I entered medicine

Medicine seemed the ideal career for harnessing my desire to help others, my strong interest in the sciences and my love of learning. I have always been fascinated by human behavior and physiology. Family medicine is the perfect field for combining these interests.

Community involvement

I have been involved with Girl Scouts since 2003 – as assistant troop leader for years, then as mentor for girls seeking their Gold Award and more recently mentoring former scouts starting careers in medicine. Most of my community involvement has involved mentoring hundreds of medical students and residents as a family medicine residency program faculty member.

Personal interests

My favorite pastime is being with my family. I am also an avid reader and love talking about books – a book club I started has endured 20 years! I also enjoy singing, cooking, travel, canoeing and hiking in beautiful outdoor settings, and relaxing at the ocean or a lake.
