About

Philosophy of care

My philosophy as a nurse practitioner in college student health relies on compassion, evidence-based practice and support for the whole person during a pivotal stage of life. I create a safe, inclusive and nonjudgmental environment where students feel heard, respected and empowered as they navigate academic pressures, identity development and increasing independence. I prioritize preventive care, health education and early intervention, with attention to physical and mental health. I tailor care plans that are realistic and sustainable within student lifestyles, empowering them to make informed decisions, develop healthy habits and feel confident accessing healthcare resources during and beyond their college years.

Why I entered medicine

My mother immigrated from Jamaica and built a career in healthcare. Her dedication, resilience and compassion sparked my own passion for helping others, which grew as I raised my child with autism. Now I especially enjoy working with college students and encourage healthy habits, self-advocacy and confidence in managing their own health.

Community involvement

I am committed to giving back to the community through volunteer work focused on preventive care and education. I value opportunities to promote public health, build trust and support healthier communities.

Personal interests

I enjoy reading, quality time with my children, spouse and family, and finding moments to relax and recharge. I appreciate self-care, including occasional spa days that help me maintain balance and bring a calm, positive energy to both my personal life and patient care.
